On the ground floor, the entrance door sits within a sheltered porch and leads into an entrance hall, with ample space for coats and outdoor shoe storage, rucksacks etc. Leading off is a fully tiled cloakroom with WC and handbasin.
Moving on from the hall, a large dining kitchen provides the perfect venue for family meals and conversation. Light and airy, with a double-glazed window overlooking the courtyard garden, and with the added benefit of a roof light which superbly captures the morning sun, the kitchen is a wonderful place to start the day. Matching the hall and cloakroom, the floor is fully tiled with a full range of solid oak kitchen units topped by ample work surfaces. Top quality appliances include a full-size high-level oven, electric hob, integrated dishwasher, washing machine and a family sized fridge/freezer. A kettle, microwave and toaster are also provided, together with a twin-bowl stainless steel sink. The dining suite is also solid oak with feature inset slate, complemented by 6 high-back leather dining chairs.
Leading off the kitchen is a large sitting room which occupies the remainder of the ground floor. A range of cherrywood furniture is provided, together with two comfortable leather sofas. Two double glazed windows offer fascinating views across the river and a chance to watch locals and tourists strolling down to the harbour or walking the cliff paths. A top-of-the-range flatscreen TV allows you to enjoy SKY TV or the 6-speaker DVD/home cinema installation. Ideal for keeping the kids - or big kids - happy after a busy day out and about.
Stairs leading from the sitting room give access to two double bedrooms, each with ample storage for clothing. The master bedroom has an en-suite bathroom with large walk-in shower, WC and handbasin - all fully tiled, as is the separate family bathroom which has a handbasin, bath with shower over and the cottage's 3rd WC. No early morning queues in this superb holiday retreat!
A small children's bedroom with bunk beds completes the first floor accommodation, where every bedroom has a window overlooking the harbour and/or river,in addition to 4 roof-lights which ensure the cottage is always pleasantly light, whatever the season or weather. We also offer a travel cot and highchair on request and at the bottom and top of the stair there are stairgates. .
Outside, the cottage has a sheltered courtyard garden, offering the perfect space for al fresco dining (patio furniture and gas barbecue supplied). Day or night - the garden is gently illuminated - this is the perfect place to enjoy the fantastic views of the valley, the sound of the river tinkling by, and a chance to appreciate the myriad of stars in the night sky, unspoilt by urban light pollution. On a practical note, the cottage has private parking for a car adjacent to the garden, so unlike so many cottages in Cornish villages, you can step straight from your car into the cottage with your luggage.
Year-round comfort
Extended and improved since the 2004 floods, the cottage has full radiator central heating, sealed unit double glazing - in traditional white small-paned widows - and extensive insulation, so guests at the cottage can be cosy even in the depths of the Cornish winter. What a super place to spend Christmas, as well as a summer holiday!
